ABBY’S LITTLE FRIENDS RESCUE is a non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization of volunteers dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals and finding them permanent, loving homes. ABBY’S is a relatively new Rescue, and because we are not a shelter, we rely solely on temporary foster homes to house the dogs we rescue until permanent, adoptive homes can be found. ABBY’S is now in urgent need of such foster homes. And so, we are reaching out to you, the community, and asking for your help. ABBY’S is asking you to open your hearts and your homes to a dog in urgent need of OUR help. Without more available, experienced foster homes, many of the dogs we might otherwise save, may pay needlessly with their lives. ABBY’S covers all vetting costs, grooming and provides the Heart Guard and flea protection, while foster homes provide the food, but more importantly, the love, nurturing and patience. These are our requirements: Potential fosters who have given serious thought to the commitment they’re about to make. Potential fosters who understand the responsibilities involved in welcoming a vulnerable, possibly ailing or difficult dog into their home. Potential fosters who will be consistent in their output of energy, emotional support and time, knowing they are the sole, temporary lifeline for this dog. Potential fosters who are prepared to be the guardians of this dog for several weeks or months, and who may have to administer medications or provide basic obedience training for this dog. Potential fosters who can revel in the satisfaction of a job well done as the dog in their care finally leaves for his or her forever home. While no two animals are the same, the experience of fostering one is. It can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
